Lunchables - Am I Too Old?

I'm a 24 year old girl and I have a confession...I love lunchables. My favorite is the pepperoni pizza lunchable with the air head candy as a dessert. Whenever they go on sale at the grocery store I buy more than is necessary and some how manage to eat them in a shorter period of time than I had anticipated. Not because it's such a small amount of food but because I love them so much I just want to eat them forever (not literally, just emphasizing how much I really love lunchables).

Whenever I buy the lunchables I always wonder whether people who see them in my cart think that I have children (I don't) and that's why I buy them or if they secretly have a love for them and know that's it's my heroin. Am I too old to be buying lunchables? Should I be embarrassed to be seen buying them when I have no children that will eat them? Is it like the McDonald's kid's meal where there is technically an age limit but still older teens and young adults still get it?

The concept behind the lunchable is to have a quick, semi nutritious lunch that takes 0 time to prepare, are the right serving size and are a children's meal. But all of those reasons are precisely why I love them (minus the children's meal part). I don't have to make anything the night before or the morning before I leave for work, it's a lot more nutritious than going out and getting Taco Bell (cheaper too), and they really do taste pretty darn good. It's just enough food for me to get through my workday without getting hungry and I never feel overly full (which is a good thing!).

Jeremy and I are trying to not eat out very often (saving for a house) and making sure we pack our lunches and while lunchables aren't exactly as cheap as making a sandwich, they are still cheaper than eating out when they are on sale, that is. There are so many different variations that are available, too and all of them are good, except the turkey in the turkey and cheese lunchable is questionable on occasion.

I'm pretty sure that I could make my own "lunchable" and it would be cheaper than buying them but it just wouldn't be the same. It definitely feels like a treat to have them because they aren't often on sale where we shop. It's sort of like a mini meal out, if that makes sense. I don't know if I will ever grow out of liking and eating lunchables and if I ever have kids I sure hope they don't like the lunchables because it really wouldn't be fun to "accidentally" eat my child's lunch :)

Happy Monday!

This weekend I took a break from blogging in order to get excited about blogging again. And I may have discovered a game called Minecraft that I played the entire weekend without doing anything else. But you know, a break from blogging is a break from blogging and I'm back at it today! I will be following/commenting back for all of those wonderful new followers and I will be stumbling/alexa hopping as well :)

Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

Awesome posts of the week!!!

Here are my favorite blog posts from this week :) I got such great feedback from last week so I will definitely be doing this each week and hopefully others find some awesome new blogs!

I enjoy all of the posts I read but I definitely have to say that this is my favorite of the week. the shinny bubble: 30 days without sugar is such a great post and something that I can really identify with. So well written and it gives me hope that I can actually see some oreos in the pantry and walk away without having any.

I love this post because it has some really great ways to make your blog cooler than it already is, and most are super inexpensive and/or free! It's a guest post on the Create With Joy blog - Spruce Up Your Blog

This post is great because there are some links to some really awesome sites that have free stuff for your blog, such as buttons, backgrounds, widgets, etc. So nice!! Neko Knits - Blog Prettiness for Free!

This post is so true! I definitely hate it when I get followers, and then when I leave them some love and give them a follow back, they unfollow me ;( Not only is that rude but it's a blow to my confidence in my blog too! Simply Stacie - Ten Ways to Stress Out A Blogger

Chapter 2 Party (Retirement Party) – Part 1

This is going to take a while to write about this weekend because so much happened and it was so enjoyable! This will probably be comprised of a couple of different posts throughout this week with pictures and videos (if I can figure out how to get the videos onto my computer) and some excellent music :)

Starting from the beginning, my mom and dad decided that this year they are both going to retire from their jobs (each worked about 30 years at their jobs). They are both pretty young to be retiring (mid 50’s) but they planned extremely well and are very smart with their money and savings (great examples for me and my brother and sister). Of course they couldn’t retire without a huge blowout party and of course since they are so young they felt like it shouldn’t be called a retirement party and instead deemed it Chapter 2.

My brother, Tim, was asked to have the band he plays in, Lime Colony, play at the party for the beginning and my dad asked Eef Barzelay of Clem Snide (said “like beef without the b” according to Eef) to come out to California and play at the party as well. My parents and Tim are loyal fans of Clem Snide and got me into their music too, although I still am partial to Incubus :)

Saturday rolls around and I head over to my parents house a bit early to help set up. The weather was **perfect** and it really could not have been a better day in California. The wind was blowing a bit while we were putting the table cloths on but once the party started it died down and turned into a very beautiful evening.

About 120ish people showed up throughout the night and it was catered by the Buckhorn Grill (if you are ever in Northern California you have to go here!). Since my family likes to drink, and many of my parents’ friends also like to have a good glass of wine, they rented a Mr. Margarita Machine, bought boxes of red wine and white wine, and had a few coolers of beer stocked with Sierra Nevada and Corona. I drank a little bit of everything, which contributed to my epic hangover on Sunday, but I have to say the margaritas were outstanding.

Eef arrived a little bit before the party started and was not at all how I expected (in a good way)! Not only is he a superb musician but he’s also very nice and fun to have a conversation with. He has so many stories of his travels in places like Spain and throughout the US and it is just so interesting to hear about some of the stories behind the songs he writes. (In my drunken haze I asked him if he had been to the “mountain in Spain that is really tall and hard to climb” and the next day realized it is called Montserrat and felt like a huge idiot, hopefully he didn't notice). He also talked a little bit about his family and really just made me want to clone him so that we could have him around all the time (in a non-creepy way)! When he took the stage I was so impressed. His presence was so captivating and most of the attendees took seats or stood around the stage area to listen to him (I say stage but it really was just a rug and a bunch of music equipment in front of the pool, but it looked really cool). I don’t think he hit a single wrong note or had any pitch problems at all and he definitely didn’t lipsync, which is so refreshing.

It was just him and his guitar until the amp decided to die and then Tim and the band convinced Eef to let them play one of Clem Snide’s songs and have Eef sing along. That was really cool since Tim and Earl (singer and composer along with Tim in Lime Colony) are big fans of Eef. They also tried to cover Journey and while it didn’t sound awful, it wasn’t exactly their best performance of the evening.Tim's girlfriend Heidi and I are hoping to convince Lime Colony to cover a Britney Spears song haha!

Awesome Blog Posts of the Week!

I've seen some of my blogging friends doing something similar where they link up their favorite posts that other bloggers have shared. I don't know that I'll do this every week but I sure will try! There are some really great writers out there who have the most fascinating and entertaining blog posts, and there are those who have the super relatable blog posts that really hit home, and those who just post about their everyday lives and honestly, I love every single post I read! I have some favorites for this week already and I'll try to post them on Fridays so when the hours tick slowly by at work you will have something to read :) Plus I know I love getting shout outs from people who read my blog and I love giving shout outs so people know that I love their blogs!

The first blog post I want to share is about making blog buttons from Lindy Legends and Other Such Nonsense - How to make a blog button
If you're like me, a beginner to this whole blogging thing, then you know how tutorials like this help tremendously!

Next I wanted to share a post about staying motivated when you set goals from Creating My Way To Success
I love this post because many times I feel like I am a terrible blogger and no one likes what I post but the key is to stay positive and just keep at it!

This next post is just too funny! I'd like cheese on my entire family - bunny stalker!

This might be my favorite post because it has to do with forever homes for a very pretty kitty and very very cute puppy! See Zwieg Run - Meet the New Girls!

I loved this post because I often find myself not wanting to do anything either and motivation certainly eludes me most of the time :) Our Monkey Life - Motivation

My motivation for this post and hopefully my weekly posts :) She is so ambitious to be doing it daily! I can't wait to see what her favorites are!! The Professionally Insane M - Daily Favorites

I really love this post about extreme couponing and how it is definitely contributing to the obese population. She's so funny in the post too! Grandma's Guide To Life - Is Extreme Couponing Making America Fat?

I just started posting some of my favorite (and more popular) blog posts on Squidoo. I would so so so love it if you would go check them out and if you feel like it, give my lenses some "likes" I only have 2 at the moment but have a few more planned :)You can sign up at the link below. It's a great way to get more traffic heading to your blog and if you are like me and trying to earn an extra buck where you can, you can earn some money here too. It's very easy to create your "lens" (posts/articles/whatnot) and equally as easy to share on twitter, facebook, blogger, etc. They give you tips on how to make your lens better and also give you a bunch of different widgets that you can add to your lens. I'm super happy with it so far even though I only have a few views of my lenses. The ease of using it is what I love most. Check it out if you would like :-) and send some "likes" my way haha!

Blizzcon 2010 and Blizzcon 2011

I don't really have anything interesting to post this week so I thought I would write a little something about our trip last year to Blizzcon. We were unable to sell our remaining ticket this year so we bought another super cheap one and are going to go, and hopefully take one more day than we did last year because driving home was exhausting!

I'll start from the very beginning. Tickets went on sale in May (for both years) and literally sold out within an hour. Last year we got tickets on the first day of ticket sales and booked our hotel and everything. Neither Jeremy nor I had ever gone before and were stoked to be able to go. Our plan was to drive down with our two other friends on the Thursday prior to the Blizzcon event and head back on Sunday morning. We were sharing a hotel room with these same two friends (Jordan and Rob) so it made sense to carpool. But they decided they wanted to stay a little bit longer than we were planning so we ended up taking two cars, which worked out since Jeremy and I picked up another friend from the airport.

 The Grapevine - Almost there!!

Thursday morning Jeremy and I got all ready to go, printed out our Blizzcon Survival Guide got some errands done, bought some snacks and hit the road. The drive from our place in Sac to Anaheim is only about 6.5 hours, if you don't hit traffic. I really enjoy driving so I drove the whole way down while Jeremy snoozed and what do you know, we hit traffic! It could have been bad except that our friend Dennis', who we were picking up from the airport, plane got delayed so we arrived at the airport at the perfect time. Total it took us around 8 hours. Then we went to the hotel, unwound for a little bit and headed out to Downtown Disney for some yummy food at the Rain Forest Cafe.

Jeremy and Me at the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney

When we were finished eating we walked over to the convention center to pick up our swag bags. Unfortunately there wasn’t really a whole lot to be excited about in the swag bag. Everyone got a demo version of Starcraft (good thing I had already bought the full version eh?), a Blizzcon Authenticator (I have a free one on my phone so don’t need that either…), a code to redeem a pet for the World of Warcraft and a portrait for Starcraft (that’s really the only thing I was excited about, but I still haven’t redeemed the codes), and figurine of Deathwing which I guess looked pretty cool, and that was it, aside from coupons for different computer companies. I’m hoping this year’s swag bag has a lot more goodies in it than last years (Diablo beta key please!).

We were all pretty pooped from driving and travelling all day and called it an early night.

The next morning we got up to go stand in line to get into Blizzcon. We met up with some friends who we play video games with online and waited rather impatiently for the doors to open. Once the doors finally opened it was like a mad rush to be the first people to get inside and it was pretty funny, I wish I had a video camera to video the massive wave of nerds/overweight/costumed people sprinting for the door as if it was their dying wish to get inside before everyone else.

Once inside it was definitely worth the wait, and now I understand why everyone wanted to get in there so quickly. I’ve never seen anything like it to be honest and this year I will definitely be photo-documenting more of it than I did last year. There were “stations” where you could play demos of Diablo, WoW Cataclysm, and Starcraft and those stations were literally rows and rows of top notch gaming computers. I would guess at least 500 computers throughout the event set up for everyone to play. There were also different booths you can go to and get free stuff, participate in “quests”, etc. Rob would have won a custom painted gaming case for his computer if he had been a bit quicker to the front of the HUGE crowd when his number was called, but he must have been riding the turtle mount because they passed him over.

Blizzcon 2010, Blizzcon, Anaheim Convention Center

The Blizzard store inside the event was stocked with tons of goodies but the wait was very very long. There were also statues throughout the venue of different characters in each of the Blizzard games and they were created with so much detail it was uncanny.

Some of the booths had raffles or contests to participate in and the prizes were pretty cool. Some of them included an Ipad, brand new graphics card, computer cases, headsets, gaming keyboards and other accessories, etc. This year we are going to hit up all the booths on the first day rather than waiting until the second day. The second day there were lines so long that it would have taken us hours just to get to the front, and by then all of the goodies were gone anyway!
Blizzcon 2010, Blizzcon, Anaheim Convention Center

Jeremy almost won an Ipad but the guy in front of us got it, after farting on us for half an hour in line. They were stinky farts, too. Jeremy was pretty peeved!

We watched a lot of the WoW Arena Tournament (go Sota!) and some of the Starcraft Tournament. These people can play! They are so fast and have such quick reaction times it’s ridiculous. Very exciting. There is also an area to watch the live raids. We didn’t watch any of that but I had heard that they were pretty cool. The top world guilds in WoW were doing the live raids and those guys/gals are pretty spectacular.

Tenacious D played at the closing ceremonies on Saturday evening. We had crummy seats and couldn’t really see them that well but the music was pretty good. I’m anxious to see who ends up playing this year and hopefully we can get some closer seats this time.
Blizzcon 2010, Blizzcon, Anaheim Convention Center
Can't see anything from way back here!

Saturday night we went to the Hilton and partied with all of the other nerds. We went to Dave and Busters too but that wasn’t really fun and kind of a waste of money. Better to just buy some tequila and head over to the parties.
Blizzcon 2010, Blizzcon, Anaheim Convention Center

We ended up driving home on Sunday which I think was not a good idea. We were hungover, exhausted, and just worn the fuck out from the whole weekend. I’m hoping that we can stay an extra day and go to Disneyland and California Adventures on Sunday J

Pet Peeve - Sales Calls

Normally I don't mind when we get people calling in to work to try to sell us something. I usually just politely say "We are not interested at this time, please remove our company name from your list, Thank you" and then hang up. But today I got the most annoying "non-sales person" call ever.

First, he asked for someone who hasn't worked for the company for several years. That immediately throws up red flags because people who call that we actually want to talk to, know who works here and who doesn't. I let him know that the person he wanted to speak to was no longer with the company and may I ask what the call is regarding so that I may direct his call. He says "certainly you may ask me that" (really? I wasn't asking for your f**king permission) then he said that he wanted to speak to a principal (which we don't have at our location, they work in our other two offices in different cities). I said that we do not have any principals in the office today and politely asked him again what the phone call was regarding so that I could send him to the correct person and he said "you certainly may ask me what the phone call is regarding" (now I'm starting to get really annoyed and it's really hard for me to keep my voice from showing it) and let me know that they had created a **FREE** 7 page website for us and would like to send it to a principal to review and that "we might as well just do it because after all, it's free". After his little shpeel I told him thank you for the offer but that we were not interested at this time and then I hung up before he could say anything more.

I don't know why this guy was super annoying to me. It might have been his arrogant tone of voice, or the fact that he basically was giving me permission to ask him what the call was regarding or that he more or less told me that if I didn't take him up on his free offer I was stupid. Am I the only one who gets sales people calling who are annoying? Is it because it's Friday and the last thing I want to do is listen to sales people talk for 5 minutes without taking a single breath? What are some of your stories of sales calls?

Who Am I Bridal Shower Game - The Perfect List

Creating a list of famous women is a lot harder than I had anticipated. I've gotten some great names from the Bride-to-be, included some of my own personal favorites, and included some women who my mother and grandmother would be familiar with. I've got a list of 35 that I thought I would share with all of you that I've deemed the "Perfect Bridal Party Who Am I Game List". What I plan on doing is printing all of these names out, with a couple of pictures to help people who don't know the person, and also some movies/songs/shows/other things they are known for to help as well.

I also will show you the basic design of the signs that will be posted on the backs of the party goers and feel free to copy them! If you want the pdf/jpg file just send me an email and I would be happy to send it over so you don't have to create a whole new set of signs :)

Perfect List of Famous Women
  1. Elizabeth Taylor
  2. Lucille Ball
  3. Twiggy
  4. Julie Andrews
  5. Meryl Streep
  6. Susan Sarandon
  7. Dolly Parton
  8. Demi Moore
  9. Cher
  10. Sandra Bullock
  11. Kate Winslet
  12. Uma Thurman
  13. Cate Blanchett
  14. Mila Kunis
  15. Marg Simpson
  16. Liv Tyler
  17. Rachel McAdams
  18. Lindsay Lohan
  19. Natalie Portman
  20. Diane Lane
  21. Dakota Fanning
  22. Britney Spears
  23. Lady Gaga
  24. Beyonce
  25. Ellen DeGeneres
  26. Julia Roberts
  27. Faith Hill
  28. Ellen Pompeo
  29. Smurfette
  30. Lois Griffin
  31. Belle from Beauty and the Beast
  32. Hermione Granger
  33. Kiera Knightley
  34. Lucy van Pelt from Charlie Brown
  35. Betty Boop
Here are some of the signs that I've created so far. They are on a template set at a "half letter" and when I cut them out I expect they will be slightly smaller than that. Very easy to get two to print on one 8.5x11 piece of paper/card stock. I'm planning on printing them on card stock and leaving the white border so that when they are pinned onto the backs of the party goers, it goes into the white border, or I may punch a hole in the middle top and attach a ribbon to it, and then pin through the ribbon to the backs of the attendees. We will see what looks best as it gets closer to the party (September yay!!)

The colors are not the blue and yellow that you see here, those will change to go along with the theme of the party which I can't say on here because it's a surprise! As I get more of the signs finished I'll post them up on here :)

All of the images that you see are from a google search for the specific famous woman's name.

Edit: These are how the final products turned out :)

Blizzcon Ticket 2011 and Swagbag!

Hello fellow bloggers! This year I was planning on attending Blizzcon again in October but unfortunately, after purchasing tickets, Jerm and I can no longer attend and need to get rid of the tickets asap! One has sold so I have just one ticket left and it's up on Ebay. Here is the link if anyone is interested or knows someone who would be interested in going http://cgi.ebay.com/Blizzcon-Ticket-2011-and-Swagbag-/290574082348?pt=US_Tickets_all_in_one&hash=item43a790a12c
Here is the link to the Blizzcon website (the event sold out super fast this year) http://us.blizzard.com/blizzcon/en/

Last year's event was so much fun and I wish we could go again this year but Jerm has a race that weekend that he plans on participating in (and hopefully winning!!).

So anyway, check it out!!
